Learning Through Play

Learning Through Play

Learning through play with our peers has been a major focus of our experience in Kindergarten. There are so many benefits to play-based education. It gives students a chance to develop their creativity in balanced ways and supports overall healthy development. Play helps develop the foundation of intellectual, social, physical and emotional skills necessary for success in school and in life.

Exploring with our peers during morning table centres has been a great way to spark conversations and get to know each other. During these centres we focus on literacy, mathematics, fine motor skills and problem solving strategies.

In our centres classroom, we have been investigating our interests, making new friends and working together. We explore in centres such as the art studio, dress-up centre, kitchen centre, Lego table, block centre, puppet theatre as well as playdough/loose parts and so many more.

Through intrinsic exploration, students develop their knowledge of thinking skills, problem solving, and language expression which occur during play. It also helps prepare them for the 21st century workplace where creativity is highly valued!

Ask me which is my favourite centre and why?
